Groups Offered

Groups or individual meetings can occur as needed, short-term, or long-term basis based on individual need and parent/teacher feedback. Some of the groups offered at Pinewood are:

Social Skill groups: This type of group is for students who struggle socially or have trouble coping with emotions. Topics for social skills include: feelings, conversational skills, self-control, respect, empathy, cooperative play skills, and conflict management.

Family Change groups: This type of group is for students who are dealing with change in their family. This can include but is not limited to: separation, divorce, remarriage, deployment, foster care, relocation, grief or loss. Family change groups will be grouped based on the type of change in their family.

Friendship groups: This type of group is for students who have a hard time making and keeping friends. Topics for friendship group include: sportsmanship, sharing, empathy, conflict management, teamwork, and cooperative play skills.

Grief group: This type of group is for students who have lost a close family member and this loss is keeping them from having a successful academic school day. This added support can be offered in either a group or individual setting.

Anxiety group: This type of group is for students who are struggling with emotional and body control and who are unable to successfully function in the classroom setting.
